She besides criticized the film's blitheness, proverb that it "embraces the flat, colorful, Saturday-morning drawing await and feel".[112] Josh Terry of Deseret News panned the film, saying that parents should "put their money into some new My Little Pony toys" rather than into seeing the motion-picture show.[113]
Gwen Ihnat of The A.5. Club gave the film a negative review, and criticized the music in the flick, noting, "the ponies' odes aren't likely to make anyone rush out to become the soundtrack; fifty-fifty the Sia song fails to stand out."[114]
Some critics praised the pic's female person representation, however. Elizabeth Weitzman of TheWrap wrote positively of the film, saying that the film, "Like its telly predecessor, is all dressed upwardly in bubbles and cupcakes and rainbows. But it's then jam-packed with rousing girl ability, it passes the Bechdel Exam with (literally) flight colors."[115] Amy Nicholson of Diversity called the motion-picture show "at once clichéd and infrequent", praising its female person characters and "emotionally wise" story.[116]
